I'm a clinician and engineer, and most of my work comes down to one question: how AI can actually improve care rather than just promise to. I trained and practised in South Africa's public health system while studying engineering, and built primary-care tools that ended up reaching a couple of million people. These days I spend most of my time on whether these systems are genuinely useful in clinical work, whether they behave the way practice actually demands, and how they might help produce evidence faster.
